Buck has been playing since 1960. Starting first with a band called "The Hayseeders" which consisted of 4 pieces. Then moving on to "Buck Edwards & The Rythym Ramblers".He played upright bass with "Texas Curly & The Melody Wranglers" in the 60's. He had a small band in the US Army which did a variety of music.Buck worked with many fine local musicians in his early years and on into the later years. In the late 70's he played with the late great Bob Heck and his fine 4 piece band in area clubs. In the early 70's he played electric bass and sang harmony with "Beverly June", then with "Norman Cole & his band" and later hired Norm for a short time has a lead guitar player in his own band.It wasn't until 1970 that the break came when he formed "The Buckshots" consisting of Doug Travers on lead guitar, Chuck Truesdell on Steel, his brother Al (then known as Jimmy) on Drums and Harry Williams on Bass. Good things happened from that point forward. The band saw a few musician changes through the years but the sound was basically the same and lots of originals were written. Buck did his first pro recording in 1980 in Southbury CT at RBY Studios. "Leaving Memphis Town" and "Baby" were the two titles. It was released as a 45 RPM. The band consisted of Buck on guitar and vocals, Doug Travers on lead guitar, Chuck Truesdell on Steel, Darrell Carlson on Bass and vocals and little brother Jimmy on Drums and vocals. In 1986 they again recorded at RBY. This time a 10 song cassette was released. The cassette has now been digitally rerecorded to cd. The band then consisted of Buck, Doug, Chuck, Jimmy, Darrell moving to guitar and John Dywer was the new bass man. Dave Armstrong was also added at this time on Harmonica. This gave a unique sound to the band. Although the members have changed since those early days Buck & the boys are are still playing. Still active in the music field Buck Edwards & The Buckshots are available for parties, clubs, barbucues or whatever else you may have need of a band for.
